Fixing Notification Problems
Bidroom uses multiple notification channels to keep you informed about project updates, bid activity, messages, and payment events. If you are not receiving notifications or they seem delayed, this guide covers common causes and solutions for each notification type.
Email Notifications
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Not receiving emails | Spam filter blocking Bidroom | Add notifications@bidroom.io to your contacts and check spam/junk folder |
| Delayed emails | Email provider throttling | Check if emails arrive within 5-10 minutes; if not, verify your email address in settings |
| Too many emails | All notifications enabled | Go to Settings > Notifications and customize which events trigger email alerts |
| Wrong email address | Typo during registration | Contact support to update your registered email address |
Push Notifications
- Not receiving push notifications — Ensure notifications are enabled for the Expo Go app in your device's Settings > Notifications. On iOS, check that "Allow Notifications" is toggled on. On Android, verify that the app is not in "Battery Optimization" mode which can block background notifications.
- Notifications appear but no sound — Check your device's Do Not Disturb settings and verify the Bidroom notification sound is not set to "None" in your device settings.
- Delayed push notifications — This is usually caused by poor internet connectivity or device battery optimization. Ensure the app has background data access enabled.
SMS Notifications
- Verify your phone number is correctly entered in Settings > Profile with the proper country code.
- Check that SMS notifications are enabled in Settings > Notifications > SMS Preferences.
- Ensure your mobile carrier is not blocking short code messages from our SMS provider.
- If you replied "STOP" to a previous SMS, you will need to text "START" to our short code to re-subscribe.
In-App Notifications
In-app notifications appear in the bell icon in the top navigation. If you are not seeing notifications, try pulling down to refresh the notifications list. If notifications are not loading, try logging out and back in to reset your session. Clear the app cache in Expo Go settings if the issue persists.
Notification Preferences
You can customize which events trigger notifications and through which channels (email, push, SMS, in-app) by going to Settings > Notification Preferences. We recommend keeping critical notifications like payment releases and milestone approvals enabled on all channels to avoid missing important project events.
